Robert has been a lawyer for more than 30 years and a university professor for more than 20 years. He has worked full time as a mediator and arbitrator for the last decade, primarily in the areas of family disputes, estate disputes, and civil litigation disputes. He has worked as a public sector arbitrator for the last 11 years and as a family arbitrator for the last 3 years.

I work with both individuals and attorneys, providing mediation services relating to pre and post-divorce issues, including alimony, child support, time-sharing/custody and equitable distribution. Disputes happen, however , it is not what happens to you, but what you do with what happens to you, which makes all the difference. Litigation is costly financially, emotionally and psychologically. Courts are based on the adversarial system and in my experience, parties soon discover that the court process itself sometimes escalates conflict. Choosing the mediation process can be an opportunity to reach a satisfactory resolution, reducing costs, hostility and a greater adherence to agreements.
